About Minibus Day Trips

Minibus Day Trips leave Oxford in the morning (usually at 8 am) and return late in the evening. Please bring a packed lunch – most Minibus Day Trips will usually stop for a pub meal on the journey back so bring some money for that as well. At just £12, minibus day trips represent great value for money – much cheaper than is possible by public transport!

You must be aware that, for the safety of the group, the trip leaders will refuse participation to anyone who is inappropriately equipped. The Club lends kit to members free of charge. See the Equipment Page for more information.

Everyone can help out on the trip, plan and carry out the walks. You could have a look at guidebooks, the internet and maps to get ideas before the trip. The Trip Organiser and Leaders can give suggestions.

How To Sign Up For Trips

To sign up for Minibus Day Trips you can come along to the Free Tea in 1st week, where you can talk with the Trip Organiser to find out more about the trips and then decide which ones to sign up for. If you cannot come to this event but would like to sign up for trips, then use our online trip booking and make an internet bank transfer or send a cheque made payable to “OU Walking Club” to the treasurer by the end of 1st week. Please write a separate cheque for each trip, writing on the back of the cheque which trip it is for.

The procedure for allocating places on trips is described here. Any trips that still have places after 1st week will be advertised on the website and via email.

You should also read the Equipment List and then print out and sign the Participation Statement and send it to the Trip Organiser (both available here).

Please note that because the club has to commit money to organise the trips, once you have paid for your place, you cannot be refunded unless your spot is replaced.
