Date: 7th-9th April
This is a wild camping trip to the Longsleddale area of the Lake District. We will be driving down on the Friday afternoon before walking to our first campsite as a night hike for about 2 hours. Each day we will be walking with full packs, i.e. tent, food, stove etc. in our rucksacks, and pitching camp at a different place. The peaks surrounding Longsleddale include High Street and Harter Fell are a truly spectacular setting to get away from it all for the weekend. See the trip poster for a little more info and pretty pictures.
PLEASE NOTE: This trip is NOT a led trip like all of the other trips this term, i.e. there will be no leaders, and everyone is treated as an equal on the trip. Due to the nature of the trip, it is definitely a lot tougher than most other OUWC trips, even those to similar locations. So that the trip can proceed smoothly you MUST be able to undertake the walk that has been planned. If you don’t have experience of wild camping with a full pack then please email Jaya John (training at ouwc.org) so that we can discuss what would be involved (or come to Free Cake and chat in person).
Pre-Trip meeting: we will meet together before the trip to discuss the trip, the route, equipment and sharing of tents and stoves, food ideas and any questions. The date and time will be set closer to the time. This is a vital part of the trip.

Date: 27th – 30th May (end Week 5, bank holiday weekend)
On this long weekend wild camping trip to Scotland we are planning to drive up to Inverarnan and commence a spectacular traverse of mountains south of Crianlarich! On Friday evening we will take a short hike up to our first camping site. On the consecutive two and a half days we are planning to climb up to 7 Munros in all (Mountains higher than 3000 feet/ 914 m). A detailed route description is in the table below – campsite 1 is most likely to be used on Sunday. We will be carrying our tents, food and equipment with us and moving on to new camping sites each day. On Monday afternoon we will drive back to Oxford, arriving 11pm or later. There will be a meeting prior to the trip to plan the exact route that we will take and arrange equipment etc.
What this means is being prepared to do well above 1000m of ascent in 1 day, for 3 days in a row. 1000m roughly represents a fairly strenuous OUWC 1 day walk in the Lake District or Snowdonia.
If you don’t have experience of wild camping with a full pack then please email the organisers so that you can discuss what would be involved (or come to Free Tea and chat in person).
