Scotland Group of Equals trip
Date: 27th – 30th May (end Week 5, bank holiday weekend)
On this long weekend wild camping trip to Scotland we are planning to drive up to Inverarnan and commence a spectacular traverse of mountains south of Crianlarich! On Friday evening we will take a short hike up to our first camping site. On the consecutive two and a half days we are planning to climb up to 7 Munros in all (Mountains higher than 3000 feet/ 914 m). A detailed route description is in the table below – campsite 1 is most likely to be used on Sunday. We will be carrying our tents, food and equipment with us and moving on to new camping sites each day. On Monday afternoon we will drive back to Oxford, arriving 11pm or later. There will be a meeting prior to the trip to plan the exact route that we will take and arrange equipment etc.
PLEASE NOTE: This trip is NOT a led trip like all of the other trips this term, i.e. there will be no leaders, and everyone is treated as an equal on the trip.
Due to the nature of the trip, it is definitely a lot tougher than most other OUWC trips, even those to similar locations. So that the trip can proceed smoothly you MUST be able to undertake the walk that has been planned.
What this means is being prepared to do well above 1000m of ascent in 1 day, for 3 days in a row. 1000m roughly represents a fairly strenuous OUWC 1 day walk in the Lake District or Snowdonia.
