Lake District (wild-camping)

Date: 7th-9th April This is a wild camping trip to the Longsleddale area of the Lake District. We will be driving down on the Friday afternoon before walking to our first campsite as a night hike for about 2 hours. Each day we will be walking with full packs, i.e. tent, food, stove etc. in our rucksacks, and pitching camp at a different place. The peaks surrounding Longsleddale include High Street and Harter Fell are a truly spectacular setting to get away from it all for the weekend. See the trip poster for a little more info and pretty pictures. PLEASE NOTE: This trip is NOT a led trip like all of the other trips this term, i.e. there will be no leaders, and everyone is treated as an equal on the trip. Due to the nature of the trip, it is definitely a lot tougher than most other OUWC trips, even those to similar locations. So that the trip can proceed smoothly you MUST be able to undertake the walk that has been planned. If you don’t have experience of wild camping with a full pack then please email Jaya John (training at ouwc.org) so that we can discuss what would be involved (or come to Free Cake and chat in person). Pre-Trip meeting: we will meet together before the trip to discuss the trip, the route, equipment and sharing of tents and stoves, food ideas and any questions. The date and time will be set closer to the time. This is a vital part of the trip.   Organiser: Jaya John John Meet: Trinity Gates (Broad Street) Time: 2pm Friday Return: Late Sunday night Distance: TBC Cost: £28 Food: IS NOT provided on this trip.   Bring money for two pub meals, as well as food for your other meals.
