Along with leaders and minibus drivers the club also relies upon people helping to plan and organise the minbus day and weekend trips. This basically involves picking the destination and deciding an appropriate route, as well as finding suitable accommodation and organising the meals for weekend trips. This comes with many advantages, namely you get to decide where the club goes on a trip and, perhaps more importantly, on weekend trips you get to decide what we all eat!!
As a note of encouragement: if you haven’t organized a trip before, or are unsure of what it involves, there are lots of experienced club members who are happy to help guide you through the process. We make the effort to try to pair you with another organiser, including a more experienced one who is more familiar with how things work, if you so wish.
Even if you don’t know where you want to go, we have plenty of collective experience and ideas, so can make suggestions of where to organize trips to. We have details of pretty much every trip we have run in the last 10 years! Possible destinations are (but you can of course choose somewhere else!): Cheddar Gorge, Forest of Dean, Snowdonia, Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Dartmoor/Exmoor, Seven Sisters, Peak District, and many other fantastic destinations! :–)
In addition there are many useful documents containing more information and planning tools here.
There will be a trip planning meeting to discuss ideas before next term, but you don’t need to wait until then to get involved! If you are interested, please contact the Trip and Safety coordinator. Many thanks – the club won’t run without you!
