Mailing Lists

If you are a University of Oxford student/staff, please sign up using your college/institution email.

OUWC has the following email lists:

  • walking-announce

 To sign up:

  1. Send blank email to sympa@maillist.ox.ac.uk with ‘subscribe walking-announce’ as the subject (do not include the apostrophes in the subject line).
  2. To verify, follow the instructions send in an email by the server.

We are sorry for this complicated procedure, but this is hard-wired by University.

walking-announce is the mailing list for official announcements about club activities, including important news, places available on club trips, corrections or changes to local walks, reminders of social events etc. You will normally get one or two e-mails each week during term-time. Only club officials can authorise messages to be sent to the list. The e-mail addresses of all new members are automatically placed on the mailing list, so there is no need to subscribe if you intend to join the club in the next few days. Members and non-members are welcome to subscribe to the mailing list.

To unsubscribe, please send a blank email to sympa@maillist.ox.ac.uk with ‘unsubscribe walking-announce’ as the subject (do not include the apostrophes in the subject line). The server will send you an email with instructions allowing you to remove your address from the list.

  • walking-drivers, walking-leaders and walking-localleaders

These are closed lists for drivers, trip leaders and local walk leaders only. Contact secretary@ouwc.org, trip.safety@ouwc.org or archivist@ouwc.org respectively if you feel you should be on one of them.

  • walking-alumni

This list is used by OUWC Alumni and by the club to communicate with alumni. See the alumni page for details.

  • walking-interested

This list is only used in Michaelmas Term to communicate with Freshers and other people newly interested in the Walking Club. Singup at Freshers fair.
