Home : Weekend Trips : - The Lake District
We will be staying in the Coppermines valley, near to Coniston. We will probably do a walk on the stunning Old Man of Coniston on one day, and drive to a nearby area of the Lake District for the second day.
The Lake District was born as an archipelago of volcanic islands in a shallow tropical sea. Over the ages, the continent carrying these islands drifted northwards, then collided with another continent. This lifted the remains of the volcanic rock into highlands, forming the mountains we see today.
Membership: As with all OUWC trips, you must become a member of the club to be allocated a place. We are only able to offer refunds on trips if we are able to fill the vacated place. There is a balloting procedure for oversubscribed trips.
