Home : Welcome
A (literally) warm welcome to spring and to Trinity Term. If the weather has put you off walks in the past, now's your chance to enjoy the start of summer and to see some of the finest colours that nature has to offer. Here in Oxford University Walking Club, you will find many like-minded people, up for a nice walk and loving nature. It gets more fun in the hills if you are interested in something more serious, as we take advantage of the long days for some longer walks. So join us as we head out for some great walks around beautiful Britain, and tell your friends too!
This term, we've planned weekend trips to Snowdonia, the South-West Coast and Northumbria, and a day trip to the "other place" (also known as Cambridge!). We'll also be doing several local walks around Oxford. These are usually shorter day walks and can be rather relaxed. Weekend trips come with the added promise of an evening spent enjoying tasty, communally cooked food in the company of the other members of your trip.
Life in OUWC is more than just walking and exploring, though. We can help interested members with First Aid or Mountain Leader courses. If you're interested in any training, please contact Rob at We can also lend equipment for members' personal use. We also like relaxing in other ways, so don't forget our social events, including the punt party!
I hope you'll take advantage of these opportunities here in OUWC, and help us explore more and more of the wonderful world around us. We also welcome members to participate in the running of the club. Joining the committee gives you very good experience in running one of the larger clubs within the University, and is a lot of fun.
To join the club, please see the membership page.
