Lakes Wild Camping Trip

7th - 9th May (end of 2nd week)

Area: Lake District
There are still places available on this trip
(Contact the trip organiser for more details)

For the first time in a long time, the club is going on a wild camping trip, where we sleep in tents in the hills.

First the stern stuff: as you can imagine, this means we carry tents, food, stoves, sleeping mats, sleeping bags as well as our usual personal gear, up into the hills and with us as we walk. This means a heavier and larger rucksack than usual, probably 50-60 litres and 10-15kg. You'll need to carry all this throughout the trip and still do a day's hillwalking, reaching high summits over rough and rocky terrain.

Now the fun stuff: wild camping is a great chance to fully experience being in the mountains. It's usually very memorable to sleep and wake up in the hills.

To sign up, e-mail Jaya John (jaya.john_a_physics.ox.ac.uk) and get a cheque to him as soon as possible. Remaining places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, not at Free Tea.

Unlike other trips, participants need to plan and bring all their own food. Leaders will provide advice on this if people would like.
