Home : Minibus Day Trips : About Minibus Day Trips
Minibus Day Trips leave Oxford in the morning (usually at 8am) and return late in the evening. Please bring a packed lunch - most Minibus Day Trips will usually stop for a pub meal on the journey home so bring some money for that as well. At just £10, minibus day trips represent great value for money - much cheaper than is possible by public transport!
You must be aware that, for the safety of the group, the trip leaders will refuse participation to anyone who is inappropriately equipped. The Club lends kit to members free of charge. See the Equipment Page for more information.
Everybody should be prepared to help out on the trip and plan and carry out the walks. You could have a look at guidebooks, the internet and maps to get ideas before the trip. The Trip Organiser and Leaders can give suggestions and may arrange for an informal meet up before the trip.
To sign up for Minibus Day Trips please come along to the Free Tea in 1st week, where you can talk with the Trip Organiser and Leaders to find out more about the trips and then decide which ones you want to sign up for. If you cannot come to this event but would like to sign up for trips, then please send a cheque made payable to "OU Walking Club" to the Trip Organiser by the end of 1st week. The procedure for allocating places on trips is described here. Any trips that still have places after 1st week will be will be advertised on the website and via email.
You should also read the Equipment List and then print out and sign the Participation Statement and send it to the Trip Organiser (both available from here).
Please note that because the club has to commit money to organise the trips, once you have paid for your place, you cannot be refunded unless the place is subsequently filled.
