TT05 Welcome

Summer Strolls, Stunning Scenery and Sizzling Sausages

Hi Folks! This alarming bout of alliteration can only mean one thing - the start of another Oxford term - and the prospect of a jam-packed schedule of Walking Club activities. Summertime in Oxford is always a treat, even if you have exams looming in the distance. Whether you're looking to forget the pressures of revision, or to make the most of the hot weather to explore some of the British countryside, there's something here for everyone. We've got all the annual favourites, plus a few original ideas this term...

Why not take a weekend off from the monotony of work (go on... you know you deserve it!) and join us on one of our fantastic Weekend Trips. We've got trips heading off to mountainous, hilly and coastal regions this term - how about joining "The Doms" for a weekend in the Lake District - or maybe chilling out on the beaches of South Devon and Dorset? Other trips will visit Snowdonia, Pembrokeshire and Skomer Island, and the tip of the Cornish Peninsular.

If you can't afford to be away for the whole weekend, we're offering 3 Minibus Day Trips this term - to the Mendip Hills, the Roaches in Staffordshire, and the New Forest. This is a great way to visit areas that are difficult to get to by public transport, and great value for money at £7.50.

As usual, there will be a Local Walk every Saturday and Sunday of full term - these offer a great way to get outside the ring-road and visit some local countryside. All these trips leave Oxford via public transport, for which we'll give members a discount. Also, local walks are open to non-members, so why not encourage a friend to come along!

As well as all this walking, the club offers some great ways to unwind in Oxford itself. Come and join us for a pub quiz, for example, or enjoy the fun of Marshall's "Election Social"... Of course, no OUWC schedule for Trinity Term would be complete without the Annual Punting Party. Come along on the 5th June and enjoy an afternoon of punting, Pimms and picnicking.

There are also plans to run trips and plan socials for the summer vacation - please get in touch if you have any ideas... A schedule will be distributed towards the end of term. Also, if you have any questions about the club or the way in which it is run, please don't hesitate to contact me - president@ouwc.org - I'll be happy to help. Finally, I'd just like to say a big thank-you to everyone who's contributed to getting this term's activities organised, and to wish everyone a very enjoyable Summer Term.

Best Wishes,

James Welch
