A very warm welcome back to Oxford form OUWC! This Trinity Term is jam-packed with opportunities to take a well-earned break from studying - we've got plenty of original ideas, as well as some annual favourites. We've laid on 8 wonderful Weekend Trips this term, as well as 4 marvellous Minibus Day Trips and 13 lovely Local Walks. As if this wasn't enough, we've got a super-sized serving of 10 sensational social events to look forward to (try saying that at the end of the pub ramble!). Whether you're looking to forget the pressures of revision, or make the most of the hot weather to explore some of the Great British Countryside, there's something here for everyone.
We're sending 7 minibuses off to some of the country's finest coastal, moorland and mountainous areas this term - offering great value for money as well as being a great social experience! The Lakes Trip this term will offer the first scrambling that OUWC has done for some time - thanks to the new safety guidelines set down over previous terms. Other trips will visit Snowdonia, the Brecon Beacons, the Pembrokeshire Coast, Cornwall and Dartmoor. There is also a short trip to the Norfolk Broads, starting on Saturday morning for those who can't make Friday afternoons. The last trip of the term is somewhat of an epic, visiting the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the Peak District!
If you cannot spare a whole 2 days for walking, come with us on a Minibus Day Trip - visiting areas too distant for public transport, yet only a couple of hours away in the minibus. We have trips this term heading to Weston-super-Mare, Stonehenge, the New Forest and Lambourn Downs.
As usual, there will be a local walk every Saturday and Sunday from 1st week - with the exception of Saturday 7th June - the infamous Punting Party! Local walks are an ideal way to see some of the Oxfordshire countryside.
This term also offers some great ways to unwind in Oxford itself - we have social events planned every Wednesday evening this term, as well as the Punt Party and Pub Ramble, both on Saturdays. Highlights also include the Cluedo evening, the Lebanese meal and the Try Climbing evening.
The summer vacation will also see the return of the Summer Schedule - details are not finalised yet, but you can be sure that there will be more trips, more socials, and plenty more ice cream!
This term looks sure to involve some great walking and some great socials - thanks must go to everyone who's contributed towards the termcard.
If you have any questions about any aspect of the Walking Club and it's activities, please do not hesitate to contact me - I'll be only too happy to help.
I look forward to seeing you all throughout the term - here's to a terrific Trinity!
