Home : Welcome
A very warm welcome to the new academic year with OUWC. We've got some exciting looking weekend trips and minibus day trips lined up this term. Information on local walks should also be online soon. In addition we will have our annual ceilidh, which is a social event not to be missed.
I look forward to seeing you at free tea and the freshers walk (more info coming up!). Free tea is our termly sign up event, where in addition to signing up to trips, socials and membership you have a chance to talk to the trip organizers to find out all you ever wanted to know about the various events, socialize and drink tea. Usually followed by a pub visit. The freshers walk is the first local walk each year and happens at the end of first week. A great place to meet old and new club members and enjoy a relaxed pub lunch in one of Oxfords many great locations.
I would also like to take this opportunity to encourage everyone - old and new - to really get involved with the club. If you are interested in the minibus trips, consider helping out by organizing, driving or even taking leader training. This term OUWC is putting on a first aid course - the first step in leader training.
But club trips are not everything. At the heart a club such as this is a group of like minded people. If you spontaneously feel like going out for a walk or want to go far afield but lack suitable company, you can use our walking-general mailing list and private trips page to find comrades and discuss ideas. Remember, you can still borrow all of the clubs equipment and maps free of charge.
