Forest of Dean

Saturday 3rd - Sunday 4th November (end of 4th week)

This is the first camping trip of the new year, and probably the last before winter. The weather should still be good enough to camp, but pack a warm sleeping bag!

We're going to explore the forest of dean and surroundings, possibly also Wye valley. The last time the organiser went to Forest of Dean, he came eye to eye with wild boar piglets (luckily the mother was not around), who were very curious and fluffy. Expect to see some when you come along!

The organiser is a big fan of good food, and he likes the idea that the club should be called the Oxford University Walking and Gourmet Food Club, so expect something yummy on Saturday evening! As always, we're going to cook for ourselves. It is not clear yet what the dish will be, and if you have good ideas, or would like to help shop, please please email the organiser.

Don't worry if you don't have a tent or sleeping bag, the club has tents enough for everyone and quite a few sleeping bags too. We will be staying on a camp site right on the edge of the Forest of Dean. When we arrive, we will walk first, until two hours before dark, at which time we will go to the camp site, pitch the tents, cook and eat. Possibly, a guitar will be present to provide the right camping atmosphere. On Sunday we pack the tents, and walk some more. We will probably be back quite earlyish, but that depends on what time we leave. Usually we walk until 16:00, so we could be back around 18:30 or so.

This trip has room for 13, but when more people apply, we might try to get another vehicle. The more the merrier!
