Equipment Needed

Walking in winter is a serious proposition, especially if the weather is unkind. The club produces a detailed sheet called the 'Equipment List and Participation Statement' so please read it! Trip Leaders will give you a copy when you sign up for a trip, but it can also be downloaded from this site. There are some essential items of equipment that you need to participate in a trip, such as waterproof walking boots, a waterproof jacket and warm clothing. For the safety of the group, the Trip Leaders will implement their right to refuse participation of anyone who is inappropriately equipped.

Do not turn up for a trip without the required equipment.

The club has a Participation Statement, which each member must sign before participating in each trip. It reads "Oxford University Walking Club recognises that walking, and hillwalking in particular, is an activity, which carries with it a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement". Please contact trip.safety(a)ouwc.org if you have any questions or comments.

For all of the Trips you will require waterproofs, a good pair of walking boots and warm clothing. Jeans are *not* suitable for these Walking Trips. Contact the Trip Leader for more information.
