Home : Local Walks : - Standing Stones of Enstone
The parish of Enstone is one of the largest in Oxfordshire. The earliest reference to the parish is in the Doomsday Book of 1086. The name Enstone refers to the Hoarstone situated at the corner of the Charlbury to Fulwell road, where hidden amongst the trees there are three standing stones, the remains of a bronze-age chambered long barrow.
