Andrew Peacock and Wiebke Muller head south to the New Forest in Hampshire, created in 1079 by William the Conquerer as a Royal Hunting Ground. Beech and oak trees are very common in the densely-packed Ancient and Ornamental Woodlands. The forest is a haven for wildlife: the keen observer can spot fallow deer and countless wild ponies can be seen.
