Home : Weekend Trips : - Offa's Dyke Path GoE Public Transport Weekend Camping Trip
In week 7 the club will go to the welsh borders and walk the southern
part of the Offa's Dyke National Trail
(http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/offasdyke/). We will walk the two
southern sections from Abergavenny via Pandy and Monmouth to Chepstow
over two days.
We will take the 16:37 train from Oxford and go to Abergavenny for a
brief night walk to our "Glampsite" near Pandy
(http://littleoasispandy.com/). On Saturday we will walk to Monmouth
where we will stay at the Monnow Bridge Caravan Site
(http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=3440) and
depending on our speed on Sunday, we will either take the 19:17 or
21:07 service back to Oxford.
This section of the path should offer some stunning scenery in the
lovely Wye Valley.
This trip is both a group of equals and a camping trip. This means you
should be confident that you can walk the two 30km sections with a
heavy pack and that you'll need a tent, sleeping bag and stove on top
of the usual equipment. The club has a number of these things, but if
you do borrow these it will be your responsibility to return these in
good condition and a dry and clean state.
The total cost depends on the number of people going, but if we get 12
or 16 people, the train fares will come to £25.90 and camping to £11
for a total of £36.90.
