Home : Minibus day-trips : - South Downs National Park
The South Downs National Park is the youngest in the UK, and on seeing its unique mixture of ancient woodlands, valleys, rolling pastures and dramatic chalk cliffs one can understand why it was granted its prestigious status. Starting from the picturesque little village of Alfriston we will walk into the Cuckmere Valley – a haven for wildflowers, birds and insects. The pebble beach at the mouth of the Cuckmere affords spectacular views of the dramatic chalk cliffs of the Seven Sisters, onto which we will forge. Stopping for lunch in Birling Gap we will spot the precarious Belle Tout lighthouse (for now a hotel), and have the opportunity of a close up view before walking on over the cliffs to see its modern sister sitting below the famous Beachy Head. From here we will descend into Eastbourne – one of Britain’s favourite South Coast resorts – where our journey will end on the handsome seafront and pier.
