Home : Local Walks : - Amazing Abingdon
Enter a new term with a meditative winter walk in the footsteps of Saint Edmund of Abingdon - Oxford’s first archbishop of Canterbury and the patron of Teddy Hall. Start in Oxford, where he was educated and himself later taught, and follow the river Thames, slowly winding through the meadows towards London. Pass the formidable ruins of the Benedictine Abingdon Abbey overlooking the river, cross the Abingdon bridge, built in 1416, and complete your journey in the historic town of Abingdon, St Edmund’s birthplace. There will also be a busy-walker option of individually taking bus or train back to Oxford after 10 km.
