Home : Minibus day-trips : - The Ridgeway
The Ridgeway is Britain’s oldest road used since prehistoric times by travellers, herdsmen and soldiers. It meanders along some chalky grassland offering wonderful views of the area. In fact, it is one of the three walking locations in Oxfordshire and around recommended by Lonely Planet. Apart from seeing the early signs of spring, highlights of the walk include visiting a rare barrow which is probably a thousand years older than the oldest parts of Stonehenge. We will also have the opportunity to drop by an Iron Age hill fort. Most of the trail is reasonably level and the walk should not be too strenuous.
