Equipment Needed

Weather conditions in the British Isles are never predictable. To ensure you're properly prepared consult the 'Equipment List' and the 'Participation Statement', which the Trip Leaders will give you when you sign up for a trip. In addition this document, which also contains a declaration that all club trip participants must sign, can be found on this site. There are some essential items of equipment that you'll need to take on a trip, such as waterproofed walking boots, a waterproof jacket and warm clothing. You will not be allowed to participate on a trip if you're not properly equipped. Email the trip leaders if you need to borrow any kit from the club for their trip, and they'll also be able to answer any other questions you may have about what to take with you.

Do not turn up for a trip without the required equipment.

The club has a Participation Statement, which each member must sign before participating in each trip. It reads "Oxford University Walking Club recognises that walking, and hillwalking in particular, is an activity, which carries with it a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement". Please contact trip.safety(at)ouwc.org if you have any questions or comments.

For all of the Trips you will require waterproofs, a good pair of walking boots and warm clothing. Jeans are *not* suitable for these Walking Trips. Contact the Trip Leader for more information.
