Home : Local Walks : About Local Walks
Every Saturday and Sunday during term time the Walking Club organises a Local walk, all you need to do is turn up on the day and enjoy a good day out! The walks either start in Oxford or use public transport to get to the starting point and there is no need to book your place in advance. Please bring sufficient money plus some spare just in case. We might find a nice pub en-route. Also, don't forget to bring a packed lunch if one is required, and it's always a good idea to bring some emergency chocolate rations/fizzy sweets. Please come wearing warm clothing, strong walking shoes or boots and waterproofs if you have them. Note that denim jeans are usually unsuitable for walking because they become heavy when wet and can rub against your skin.
The return times really are estimates because public transport may not be running efficiently or the group may not make the recommended connections. Also, although the costs have been thoroughly researched, they cannot be guaranteed. Keep an eye on the weekly emails in case any details change.
For the walks that Gloucester Green Bus Station, please gather near the Bus Station side of Harveys (next to the Oxford Tube stand). For the walks that meet at the Railway Station, please gather inside the main entrance. For the walks that meet at Queen's Lane Bus Stop, please gather at the Oxford Tube stop on the High Street, directly in front of The Queen's College main entrance. When you get to the meeting place, simply look for someone wearing walking gear and a rucksack. Please try to arrive by the stated time - we may be able to save money by buying a group ticket, and we cannot wait for you if you are late.
Please notify archivist@ouwc.org before the end of this term if you would like to lead a walk next term. You can either plan your own location, route and transport or leave us to plan a good day out for you!
