Home : Archives : HT03 Club Trips : Lake District BIG Trip
In the first mountainous BIG trip in recent history, the club strides off to Ennerdale, in the north-west Lakes, which is the wildest and most remote valley in the national park! From the cosy venue of gas-lit Ennerdale Youth Hostel, famous peaks Great Gable and Pillar lie temptingly at the valley head, reachable by a short walk along the heavily forested flanks of the gushing River Liza. Beautiful Buttermere and Crummock Water nestle in the next valley across, and ridge-walking possibilities throughout the area are huge. Your intrepid Trip Leaders are Richard Campbell (Hertford), Simon Procter (Merton), John Seymour (Queen's), Simon Stevens (ex-St Edmund Hall) and Andrew Thompson (ex-Brasenose).
